Our Son's Namesake

I apologize for taking so long to get this post written. But I could not share with you our son's name without sharing with you his namesake. Below is a video of the man we named our son after. We have been trying to get this almost 25 year old video on a dvd, computer and loaded into imovie. It's really complicated for a non-techy person like myself to get it done. :)

So our new little guy's name is..

Mason David

He is named after someone very special not to just me but to the many lives he touched while in ministry. Grandpa Mason who this post is about and who you will "meet" through his video below was a godly man. Our little guy's middle name is my father-in-law's name who is also a man who loves the Lord. Grandpa Mason was a pastor and lived a hard life in his early years with divorced parents, an alcoholic father, sometimes not having enough food to eat and he grew up in a privately funded home for boys. But God used those hardships to put a desire in his heart to minister to those who were in need of food, clothes and who needed to hear about the hope that can only be found in Jesus Christ. He founded a mission church where he preached and gave out food and clothes. That church almost 30 years later is still serving its small community. He met his wife on a blind date and stayed faithfully married to her despite her severe struggle with mental illness.

Please take a moment to watch just a few excerpts from his video testimony. He was very sick and passed away just 30 days after this was taped.

Our prayer for our son Mason is that when he looks back on this battle ground called life, through the hurt, pain, joy and trials that like my grandpa he will still be able to say God is good.

Marriage Video Series

Hubby and I are starting a new video series where we answer your questions. We're both really excited about it! Today is the first video and the first time we've both sat done and done a vlog. (we were both nervous but hubby is a natural) We videoed this one at our friends' house in Virginia and it only took 20 takes. (You should check out the blooper reel)

For this video we answer the question "What are some ways you keep your marriage strong after children."

If you have any questions we'd love to hear them! Put them in the comments below or email them to me pixelperfectblog(at)gmail.com

*If your marriage needs outside help please seek help from a pastor or a christian counselor in your area.

Behind the scenes

Here is a video taking you behind the scenes of little man's latest session. I sat him close to the windows in our house that face the north. That way there is no direct sunlight. That kind of lighting always makes for great pictures!

To be able to take you behind the scenes I used my canon rebel for the video, so hubby could record using my 5D Mark ll.

2010 wrap up

2010 was a year filled with ups and downs but we survived! There was little man's hospital stay, a new baby, vacations, and spending time with family and friends. I feel so grateful for what the Lord did in 2010.  Here's my annual year end video to wrap up the year.

Thank you for being apart of 2010 (I absolutely LOVE this blogging community) and I can't wait to see what 2011 brings all of you!

*The verse at the end of the video:

Proverbs 24:3-4

"By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures."

My "rare and beautiful treasures" are my family. :)

Happy New Year!

Christmas 2010

Looking through the photos of Christmas day, I did a poor job at being the photographer! I barely took any photos!! Oh, well there's nothing that can be done now. Last year at this time we were having Christmas in the mountains. Look at how little, little man was!

We spent Christmas day at my dad's house. It was laid back, relaxing with plenty of good food. Hubby brought over the homemade cinnamon rolls he made, they were quickly devoured.

Cohen was enjoying some snuggle time with his aunt. This baby boy loves to snuggle.

When your son tries to put the lens cap on your camera, that's his way of saying the photo shoot is done.

He was warning everyone, the fire is hot! He must have been concerned because he warned us multiple times throughout the day. :)

My dad got him this dump truck that does all sorts of fun tricks. We especially love how it will continue to go in circles and talk even when your son has walked away from it.

Little man and I got matching shoes for Christmas. This is the only age I will be able to get away with this and I am enjoying it!

By the end of the day this little guy was tired. We were all tired.

Here is part of our Christmas video.

Little man

While little man was sick we weren't able to give him solids. He was on a liquid only diet. Last week I tried giving him solids for the first time since being sick and he couldn't keep them down, due to the severe stomach irritation the virus caused. The doctor put him on a different medicine to treat his stomach irritation. This video shows the first time he ate solids since being on the medicine. You would think I was feeding him something horrible!! It was only bananas! And I am happy to announce he kept them down!!

See you all tomorrow for the before/after blog hop!

2009- That's a wrap!

2009:
  • A new president was sworn into office.
  • The king of pop died along with several other famous people. I'm still sad about Beau Arthur's passing. I love Golden Girls.
  • Swine flu outbreak.
  • Ballon boy takes us all for a wild ride.
  • Tiger Woods squeaky clean image is tainted.
  • Michelle Duggar gives birth 3 months too early.

I always get sentimental and sad when a year comes to a close. Don't believe me check out my end of the year post I wrote last year. This year was packed with blessing in our family. Little Man was born June 1, we took several trips and spent a lot of time with family. I compiled a video to show what 2009 looked like for us. (I love making videos) Enjoy! I'm going to go play in the snow!
