Costumes, Candy, and a hospital stay

It has been an eventful few weeks. So it's time for a blog post.

Cohen had to be hospitalized after he had what we thought was a stomach bug initially but he only vomited two or three times and that was it. But he seemed very lethargic days after he had thrown up and he wouldn't eat or drink. Which led to dehydration. In the hospital he was able to get hydrated but all his tests came back negative. Nobody could tell me what was wrong with him. After a process of elimination and research we think he ate some poisonous berries from a bush we have. I had no idea they were poisonous. I always told the boys to stay away from the bush but I guess curiosity got the best of him...

We are very thankful that Cohen is much better! He is eating and drinking again. He's still really tired and grumpy but it's been a rough few days for the little guy. And don't worry that bush will be gone in no time!
Cohen got better just in time for pumpkin carving and trick-or-treating. Here's little man checking out the pumpkin.
We had a lion and a doctor this year. People kept asking if little man was a veterinarian. We hadn't thought about that but it works!

It was almost 80 degrees here so Cohen was not too happy with his lion suit. But seeing the candy made it all worth it.

Thanksgiving is this month!! Who else is excited??!!

A traumatic event...

IMG_0587

When blankie gets a "bath" it's a very traumatic event. I always try to sneak it into the washer but inevitably he notices it missing. On this particular day he walked in on me switching it to the dryer. He had been looking for it for a while and the second he saw it, he lost it. He didn't want to leave the laundry room. He stayed right there until it was finished drying.

The following video is from last night. We were going through our normal bed time routine with the boys, when hubby went and got his guitar.  Little man's favorite song if Forever Reign by Hillsong. And if you listen carefully you can hear little man sing "Jesus, Jesus no name". (any mom would melt at hearing that) Half way through hubby makes up a tune/song to the verse Ephesians 6:1 (Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right). Little man was not impressed.

Four days post-op

Little man had his surgery to correct his problem with keeping down solids on Thursday. I am happy to say that he has not thrown up since!!! I can't tell you how excited I am to be able to feed my son food! Thank you for your prayers for him.

This is a picture of little man right out of surgery. Sorry for the poor quality, I took it with my camera phone.

I'm sorry I have been a horrible blogger lately. Life has just been crazy.

Hospital update

We are still in the hospital. All of little man's test came back negative. The Dr. says the virus is out of his system and the reason why he can't keep his formula down is because his stomach is very irritated. So all of that is good news! We gave him his own formula for most of the day. A little bit at a time. Now we have to see if it stays down. If it does we will get released!! Thank you all for your prayers!! Please pray it stays down! Here are a few photos from the day.

Back in the hospital

Friday, last week we were sent to the E.R. because little man's stomach bug had caused him to become dehydrated. After he received fluids he seemed to perk up but still couldn't hold down anything. We went 48 hours without formula only giving him pedialyte and without vomit. After those 48 hours we thought it was safe to go ahead and start giving him his formula. As soon as we introduced a little bit of his formula he would vomit. And was unable to hold it down which caused him to become dehydrated again. This morning little man's pediatrician admitted him in the hospital to keep him hydrated and run tests to be able to give this virus a name. We are thankful that we have been able to get every "sample" that they needed for their tests. The blood work came back normal and we are now waiting on a few other tests. We won't be able to leave the hospital until little man can keep down his formula. Please be praying for he will be able to beat this virus and that he will be able to keep his formula down!

How pitiful is this? It breaks my heart. At least they didn't IV his thumb sucking hand.

  • You got to sit in daddy's airplane. Daddy hopes that you will love aviation as much as he does!
  • You are still sleeping through the night. (what a blessing!)

My husband and I were not awakened by the alarm clock this morning....nope...My beautiful baby boy who NEVER wakes up in the middle of the night decided he needed to get up at 3:50. It wasn't too bad because our alarm was going to go off at 4:30. It actually worked out great. We decided to go ahead and feed him. Because we went ahead and fed him he wasn't "due" for another bottle till our take off....perfect! Thank you God! Little man did great his first flight.
Hubby wanted to take pictures of little man's first airplane ride. Little man was enjoying himself and hubby was on his fourth cup of coffee.

Matthew 5:14,16
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

Your name means "light". Our hope and prayer for you is when people look at you they will see the love and grace of Jesus Christ. That you will be a light in a dark world. We pray that you will seek His face and not look to the world to be your guide.
