My love/hate relationship with Mr. FedEx man

untitled-1-3
Isn't it exciting getting packages in the mail? I use to love it! That was until I had a child that I was watching in my home and became a mother. Originally I had fans going in their rooms so it wasn't a big deal. Mr. FedEx man would ring the doorbell, bang on the door and leave the package. Nobody would wake up from their naps and most of the time it was during lunch time. I even left a note on the doorbell telling him that babies are sleeping. When the note actually stayed on there Mr. FedEx man would still bang on my door.

Now that my photography business is up and running I am getting more packages in the mail. (print orders and such) He is coming at least twice a week. In the past few weeks he has been coming during nap times. Little man's bedroom is not far from the front door. We used to have a noisy fan in his room to drown out noise but that broke. He now has a humidifier that isn't as loud. The other day I was working on my computer when the doorbell rang, he pounded on the door, and ran for his van. A few seconds later little man was crying and wouldn't go back to sleep and a few minutes later I heard the tiny voice of a two year old asking me to get him out. Ugh! Thank you Mr. FedEx man for bringing me my packages and ruining my afternoon.

This past Tuesday I was expecting another order. I laid the boys down for their naps and started working on some editing. 1:30 rolls around no package.....2:00 nothing...... "He's usually here by now." I thought to myself. I continued working. 2:30 rolls around still nothing. I checked online to see what time it was suppose to be here. It said no later than 3. No lie it was 2:56 when he pulled in front of my house. His van came to a screeching halt and it jerked when he threw it in park. His door flung open and he was sprinting for my front door. I had to intercept him.  I jumped out of my chair stubbed my toe, tripped on a bucket, hit my face on the door, somehow pinched my finger in the baby gate, and was struggling to open the door with the baby proof door knob thing on it. I swung the front door open and I caught him as he was in motion to ring the doorbell. I think I startled him. But it didn't matter. I had beat him to the doorbell. Ah...success!

My toe on the other hand has seen better days.

  3. No one ever bothers me mid-day~ we have a mail box at a UPS store and it's the greatest! I never have to worry about a package sitting on my front porch announcing we are not home, etc. It's always waiting for me at the mail box and the owner almost always carries it out to my car! Plus we can be gone for a week and our mail collects just fine without us. Definitely something to consider if you own your own business. (The UPS store address is a street address, NOT a PO Box- so as far as everyone knows, that's where we 'live')

  4. Wow, all fed-ex drivers must be the same; my fed-ex guy comes speeding into our driveway and throws it in park, too, even before the vehicle has a chance to stop! I don't like my doorbell but I usually don't have a problem with deliveries. Usually if I get a delivery it's from the UPS and the lady that delivers knows to open the outside door and set the package in the mud room.

  5. You would not believe how I can relate to this! I have humidifiers in both my kid's rooms. I had a note on the door. It worked most of the time! I even unplugged the home phone because I don't want the phone to wake anyone from naptime. Ugh. It's the only bit of peace in the day, and they are a nightmare without naps.

  10. Mine is never a delivery guy at the door but instead our mailman EVERY day comes through at nap tie and boy does that mail truck need a new muffler. Some days he sleeps through sometimes not. I feel your pain

  11. That is classic! And that's why even though my son will be 4 in January, I still have my "Baby Sleeping, Please Knock" sign on the door. And oddly, enough, everyone does knock...
