Getting to know you

Today we are getting to know Tiffany from A Moment Cherished blog.

How long have you been married?  My husband and I have been married for 8 years this July. We started dating in 1997 when I was just 17 years old. He is my first and only love, and same for him! {grin}

How many children do you have? ages? I have two children. Cadence (Cadi - pronounced Cay-dee) who is 4, and Prescott (Scotty) who is 20 months.

What is the one thing that if nothing else "sticks" you want your children to learn from you? If I had to choose one thing above anything else, I would want my children to learn to love the Lord their God with all of their heart, soul, and mind. I hope that I live my life in such a way that they will authentically see this in my own life and want to imitate it in their life.

Are you a stay at home mom or a work at home mom? I am a stay-at-home mom and LOVE it! {grin} I was an elementary teacher up until I had my first child. My husband and I then prioritized what we felt is my divine assignment - homemaking, being a godly wife and being a godly mommy.

Do you have any hobbies? Hmmm....I like to be creative - I guess that is my hobby! More specifically I am noticing that I love to create. I seem to always be drawn to things where I can work with my hands. Some of these are cooking, baking, photography and post processing, writing, journaling - I am working on a homemaking visual journal that is inspiring so much creativity! I love decorating and rearranging my home, too.

What is you best memory you have of your family? The best memories are just the everyday moments. I do not want to forget these it is the reason why I take so many photos of the everyday things - sitting around our table together enjoying a meal, all cuddled on our bed on Saturday mornings, taking family walks, laughing at each other until our sides- ache. We just love being together. I hope everyday we are creating a best memory.

What is your favorite family vacation? My favorite family vacation would have to be the most recent one that we took - this past September. We went to Florida for two weeks, and it was so fun to share the excitement of Disney World with Cadi and to spend time together soaking up the sun, splashing around in a pool, and just enjoying each other. I think that is what we do best. {grin}

What are some ways you practice frugality? I am trying really hard to be more conscientious of this in my life! This past January we started the Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover, and that has inspired me immensely in the area of frugality. One secret I have is that I do not buy my children's clothes (or my clothing for that matter) full price. I either buy them really clearanced or I shop at yard sales, thrift stores, and ebay.  I still love name brands like GAP, Gymboree, Janie and Jack, etc, and that is what I look for to purchase for my children - just never full priced. I like the thrill of the hunt! I am trying to be better at couponing with our grocery shopping, too. That is not going as well, though. {blush}

What is your most embarrassing moment? Oh my goodness I am really struggling with this one. I know I have them. I get embarrassed so easily! But my mind is drawing a blank. One thing that continually embarrasses me is my voice. I have a little voice. It is hoarse and young sounding. I constantly will get phone calls asking to speak to my mommy. That is embarrassing! Although at times it has come in handy with telemarketers! {wink}

What surprised you the most about marriage? Honestly? I was young and naive when I got married. I think that I really thought marriage would be more . . . . ummm romantic? Is that the word I am looking for? I thought it would be more roses and candles and love notes and cuddling long into the night - ha! And it is not that it is never those things, it is just definitely not always that way. My marriage is not defined by romance like I thought would be the case. But on the flipside, I love living my day-to-day normal life with a man who loves me and knows me inside out. Being loved and known intimately is better than "romance" any day!

What surprised you the most about being a mom? How much it would transform me and permeate my life, my thinking, my actions. I didn't realize how much I would learn about the love of my Daddy in heaven through becoming a mommy to two little sweeties. It is amazing and mind blowing the love that God has for us, and to realize that His love is perfect and far beyond even the love I have for my own children.

What is the hardest part about being a mom for you? The hardest part about being a mommy is dieing to self. Every. Single. Day. It is easy for me to be selfish in this mommying adventure, but that is not what God desires, and deep down that is not one I desire to give my children either.

What is the most rewarding part? The most rewarding part about being a mom is watching my children grow and being able to grow along side them as a mommy and as a woman. Their sweet hugs and kisses are certainly the cherry on top though! {giggle}

How long have you been blogging? I have been blogging since Cadi was just a few months old. So going on five years. I started out blogging at xanga, and I switched to blogger this past summer. So far I am really liking my switch.

What is your reason for blogging? That is easy. I blog to remember. My life as a young mommy and my children's childhoods are fleeting, as well as this stage of our marriage. I have been clinging to James 4:14 ".... for you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes." That is so true.  It is true about our life in general and each chapter of our life as well. I only have one shot at this life - at being a godly wife, a godly mommy - a godly woman. I want to give it my all, and I want to remember and cherish the moments along the way. So I blog them.

Can you leave us a link of your  favorite post from your blog? My favorite?? Hmmm....I guess that my favorite most recent post would have to be here.
