Getting to know YOU!

Today we are getting to know Lindsay at Snapshots of Happiness. I don't know her in real life but in a strange way I feel like I do. She is incredibly encouraging and a prayer warrior! She has a great blog be sure to go check it out!!

How long have you been married?

I have been married 4 and a half years to my best friend.

How many children do you have? Ages?

I have two beautiful children.  Wesley is 3 and a half and Felicity just turned 1.  They are my treasures and I love them so dearly!

What is the one thing that if nothing else "sticks" you want your children to learn from you?

That they are children of the King.  God loves them and sent His son to died for them.   That as His children they are to live their lives in a way that brings honor and glory to Him.  If that “sticks” and they live their lives in a way that pleases the Lord, then I will be one proud Mama!

Are you a stay at home mom or a work at home mom?

I mainly stay home with my kids.  I clean homes two days a week in an attempt to save up to buy a professional camera.

Do you have any hobbies?

I have so many but I am most passionate about photography.  I also love crafts and four wheeling.

What is your best memory you have of your family?

All my best memories are simple, playing outside, building tents, four wheeling, snuggling and exploring outside.  We love spending time outside and do so as often as possible!

What is your favorite family vacation?

Going to Texas to visit my sister.  It was Matt and Wesley’s first time flying.  We missed our flight and had to stay overnight in Newark NJ.  That was not fun but exploring Texas, going to a ranch; walking in San Antino and eating real TexMex food were all great!

What are some ways you practice frugality?

I try to save money in many ways, making our own laundry soap and cloth diapers are probably our biggest money savers.  I try to make everything that I can like crib shoes, blankets, sleep sacks, baby wraps, slings, hair accessories, and nursing covers.   I also make a recipe list to shop off of in an attempt to not buy things that we don’t need.

What is your most embarrassing moment?

Ugh!  I have no idea.  The event that stinks out most is when Wes was little and I was nursing him.  I was just about to have him latch on and my brother in law walked in to my house (he lived next door and never knocked, which was usually not a problem).  Of course he got quite the eye full.

What surprised you the most about marriage?

My ability to change and compromise.  Things don’t always have to be my way and you know what sometimes, my way is not really best.  Who knew that I did not know everything!  Simple things like the way I make my bed, we had to compromise on how to tuck the sheets in, but all those simple changes can really add up if not dealt with a loving spirit.

What surprised you the most about being a mom?

The difference between my two kids!   Wow could they be any more different?  Wes is crazy, fast, loud, emotional, dramatic, and persistent.  Felicity is slow, calm, content, quiet, cautious, and snuggly.  Very different.  I am amazed at how I can love and care for two children that have such different needs.  Care for them and not favor one over the other.  I was seriously worried about that when I was pregnant with Felicity.  I know now that that was just a waste of time.

What is the hardest part about being a mom for you?

I think I kind of already answered that in the above question.  Learning that just because I figured out what works for Wesley in a certain situation does not mean it will work for Felicity.  Learning to deal with Wesley’s dramatic emotional personality has also been a challenge since I am a more laid back person; I have a harder time understanding all his drama.

What is the most rewarding part?

Rewards, there are so many it is hard to choose.  It ‘s the simple things like Wes picking my flowers, telling me he loves me, snuggling Felicity till she falls to sleep, listening to Wes read to Felicity, watching Wes care for his little sister, seeing them both grow and learn.  Every day that God gives me with them is a special reward all in its own.

What is your dream job? If you could do absolutely anything...

If I could do anything it would be a mom, with a maid of course, so I could spend all day playing and going on adventures with my kids.   We would play, bake, get dirty, make things, go exploring and relax in my always clean home.   I would also love to be a professional photographer

Share with us 3 interesting facts about yourself that others may not know about.
Hmmm…I have eaten a whole watermelon all by myself!   I just love watermelon!!

Every night before I climb into bed I pull back the covers and brush off my sheets.  I have this thing where if there is even the tiniest bit of sand or fuzzes I can’t sleep!  How does dirt get in there anyways!?!  My sheets also have to be straight or it just really bugs me.

I am seriously rhythmatically (I'm pretty sure rhythmatically is not a word) challenged!  Yep I am the one that is always clapping off beat and don’t even try to get me to dance…it’s not pretty.

I have big feet.  10 wide.  Try finding something pretty in that size.  It’s not easy!

How long have you been blogging?

I believe that I started in August of 2009, and I have had many computer break downs since then, so I am fairly new to the blogger world.

What is your reason for blogging?

My mom.  She remarried and moved 5 hours away.  This was a huge change for me since she has always been very close and involved in my life.  I started blogging to keep her up to date on her grandbabies and to feel connected to her and my siblings that moved with her.   I still adjusting to not having her around but blogging really does help.  I have also met some awesome people and photographers through blogging!

Can you leave us a link of your favorite post from your blog?
