The cake disaster

The other night I was craving a specific cake that one of my favorite restaurants use to make. But since they no longer make it, the only way I was going to get it is if I made it myself.

I had a lot to do that evening and hubby was watching the finale of Deadliest Catch. So I asked him if he would mind baking the cake and I would do the rest. He was more than happy to take on the task.

Now something you have to know about my husband is that he is one of the best cooks I know. He can cook dinners that will literally melt in your mouth and be full of amazing flavor. He loves to cook! He puts my cooking to shame.

So imagine my shock when I saw this....

He forgot to spray the pans. We both couldn't stop laughing. Apparently he's a great cook but still needs to sharpen his baking skills.

Love you honey!! (he approved this post. :)

  1. Oopsie! Nothing a little icing can't cover up, right?

  2. lol, it happens. =0) I remember something similar happening and we just ate it like that with a little icing put on a wedge of cake. But I am a cake girl more than an icing girl. =0) Bet it still tastes delicious!

  3. That's when you throw it into a goblet and put a dab of whip cream on top with some caramel drizzle. Then it looks like you were supposed to make it look that way!

Love that he was willing to help with a craving and bake! So sweet!

  4. Yes it was very sweet of him to be willing to bake it! He's an amazing husband! This was something that we both agreed we didn't want to forget, which is why it made the blog. :)

  5. I know this happens to other people. I made a cake for my granddaughter's second birthday, using a different pan. I should have used two pans, cuz it over flowed! I nearly threw it away but it turned out ok, just a bit heavy! But it was good! I posted photos of it in late May for her birthday. I've yet to post the disaster photos....thanks for sharing.

  6. That is too funny! What kind of cake were you trying to make?

I made a cake when my husband turned 30. Something about it just didn't smell or taste right, but everyone ate it trying to be nice. I think I put too much oil in it. To this day when I make a cake there is at least one comment about my oil cake.

  9. Oh man!! That happens to me all the time. But sometimes I find, that sometimes the biggest cake disaster produces the best tasting cake. I always eat my crumbly cakes.
